Mojacar Pueblo (Village) |
 |
Mojacar
is one of the most charming and unspoilt
towns in south-eastern Spain. Enjoying the
sunniest and warmest climate in the whole
of Europe, it is known as 'El Rincon del
Embrujo' or 'the corner of enchantment'.
A forty-five minute drive from Almeria airport,
Mojacar is an ancient Moorish town graced
with a unique charm. Steeped in history,
it is situated high up on the foothills
of the Sierra Cabrera with stunning views
across the Mediterranean coastline.
Mojacar village is an idyllic mix of sugar-cubed
whitewashed buildings, cobbled winding streets
and beautiful Moorish architecture. The
main square looks across to the snow-capped
peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains and
is filled with street cafes, bars, boutiques
and shops. Take a stroll through the maze
of cobbled streets hidden behind the main
square and you will find some wonderful
restaurants and bars.
A favourite with artists and writers, Mojacar
is renowned for its historic surroundings
and traditional Spanish way of life. The
ancient Moorish fortress and Arabic architecture
are protected and development is strictly
controlled to prevent the historic charms
of Mojacar from being lost. |

Mojacar Playa (Beach) |
 |
| The
pristine golden sands of Mojacar beach and
its crystal clear Mediterranean waters are
perfect for family holidays. The sun shines
for 320 days of the year and with a 9 kilometre
stretch of unspoilt, blue flag-winning beaches,
this beautiful coastline offers something
for every taste.
Excellent beach bars and restaurants are
dotted along the promenade and you can enjoy
a variety of water sports including snorkelling,
sailing, pedaloes, water skiing, paragliding
and windsurfing.
There is also a shopping centre set back
from the beach where you can enjoy some
great shopping and grab a bite to eat at
one of the cosmoplitan cafe-bars.
A large part of Mojacar beach is a designated
area of natural beauty. Take the coastal
road out of Mojacar and you'll come across
a rough track which turns off towards the
sea. Follow the track to discover charming,
isolated coves that are ideal for beach
lovers who prefer quiet solitude.
The local authorities have set strict guidelines
preventing any high-rise buildings being
built long the coastline, as they want to
protect the region and prevent it from becoming
another of Spain's over-developed Costas. |

working harbour, situated next to Mojacar.

seafood restaurants along the sea front
where you can enjoy the speciality of large

The town dates back to the 16th Century
when it was founded by a group of fishermen.

life in Garrucha and it is definitely worth

the fishermen auction off their daily catch
every afternoon. |

seafront promenade and a marina at each
end.
This small, tranquil village is situated
at the foot of the Sierra Almagrera mountains
and its name, Villaricos (meaning rich village),

and is not to be missed! |

Cortijo Grande |
 |
| The
Cortijo Grande Valley is a beautiful area
to visit with a stunning backdrop of orange

mountains.
A short drive out of Mojacar through rolling
countryside will bring you to a pair of
beautiful stone pillars that mark the entrance
to the valley.

this is an excellent opportunity for golfers
to experience a challenging round of golf
in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Cortijo
